Officers in Southwest Division have been working extremely hard to reduce crime and provide a safe environment and a better quality of life for Southwest community members.
I am very proud of the Southwest Officers for doing an outstanding job over the last 12 months. Southwest patrol officers have reduced crime by over 33 percent in this division, which has never been achieved. For a long time crime has plagued this community. Hopefully by reducing crime, our community and neighborhoods will be a better place to live.
We continue to struggle with homicides along the Adams Boulevard corridor. These homicides are occurring because of a gang war between 18 Street and Geer Street gang. Although we continue to arrest these gang members for various types of crime, we still need the community's help in attempting to arrest those responsible for these homicides. If you have any information that can assist the Los Angeles Police Department in solving the last two homicides that occurred in January please contact the Southwest Homicide Detectives at 213-485-2417. Furthermore, if you see any type of illegal activity, please do not hesitate to contact Senior Lead Officer Sanchez or Southwest Division.
