BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING AGENDA

8/09/07

I. CALL TO ORDER: 7:10 - 8:50 pm.
In the absence of Rob Sharpe, President, Brian Olson, Vice President, chaired the meeting.

II. ATTENDANCE, Board members present:

Five members constitutes a quorum, 8 members were present.

III. REPORTS:
A. MINUTES, Andrea Suhaka – The minutes were reviewed. Brian Olson corrected his neighborhood number from 8 to 9.Review for any corrections, (Foley/Fuller-unan)
B. TREASURER’S REPORT, John Fuller – John distributed copies of his report. The WHCA has picked up 10 new members since the last report. (Suhaka/Greyson-unan)
C. CHAIRPERSON’S REPORT, Rob Sharpe was not present

IV. COMMITTEE REPORTS
A. General Improvement District, Jim Graham
 Jim submitted bills for $1,250. (Approved: Fuller/Foley-unan) John Fuller signed the bills in the absense of Mark Trenka, GID director.
 $ 377,916.43 in GID account
 Some new bushes will be planted on Yosemite
 Water district is selling it’s property on Quebec
B. WH Beautification/Zoning and Ordinance Awareness, Frank Haskett was absent. Julie Marsicek had his report.
 11 yards have not cut weeds
 Frank has not been able to contact to contact the Boy Scouts who would help with cleaning yards and so has not distributed any of this “code infringement” flyers. Ed Smith has said he would help with yard clean-ups for folks who weren’t able to do it themselves.
 4 inoperable vehicles. Sheriff responded on cars in street, will act when tags have expired
 Neither Suhaka nor Haskett has heard from code enforcement on downed fences.
 Donna has taken care of the kids on vehicles in park
 South Suburban and the Sheriff’s Office have partnered on grafitti
- Donna noticed 2 suspicious boys in neighborhood. She will report it to the sheriff if she sees them again/
C. Membership, Rob not present
 Ideas to increase membership. We still need to form a committee when more board members are present.
- Donna Senn would like to man a table at back to school nights. She will connect w/Rob check on dates
D. Welcome Wagon, Donna Senn
 Needs tchotches. Needs membership forms.
 We should add a welcome letter from Rob
 Cheryl Parker hasn’t given Donna summer info yet.
E. City of Centennial/ CENCON, Andrea Suhaka
 Approve CENCON Dues ($30)
 Andrea passed around updated information on Southglenn, Arapahoe Road Corridor, upcoming city visioning process
 Julie complained that when she called the call-n+Ride, the driver person said her was too busy and couldn’t pick her up (twice!)
 Julie also commented that the jitney has been driving too fast inside the neighborhood.
F. Walnut Hills Newsletter, John Fuller
 Deadline for next Issue – September 15
 John distributed a few copies of the finance report from Phyllis Moehle, some months are a loss (Statement attached to min.) if they lose too much money the scholarship contribution may dwindle
 Possible solutions to get in the black: more ads, shorter newsletter
 Jerry commented again about the illegible neighborhood map. He found a good one from Google maps and will send it to Phyllis

V. OLD BUSINESS
A. Bench Update, John Fuller
- The bench is installed & plaque has been ordered ($120+)
- Greyson/Marsicek – authrize up to $150 for placque (unan)
B. D&O Insurance Info, Jeryl Tippets
 There was a great deal of discussion on this issue. We will have to come back to it when more board members are present.
 There is no policy that would cover us from a libel suite stemming from the newsletter
 Rob is the only one insured under our current policy. We could each add a persoal umbrella policy to our homeowner’s insurance
 D&O policy, $700+, what we have currently $340+

VI. NEW BUSINESS
A. Eric Schultz (1) has resigned due to other obligations. We need a replacement!
B. Neighborhood Link / New Web-site
 Jerry has been keeping up the Neighborhood Link site
 Duane Thompson has a domaine and is willing to host but is a commercial enterprise
 Jerry has researched Godaddy as a possible domaine, $5/mo. for 500 Mg

IX. ADJOURN

Important notes:
- Board of Directors meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month in the Castlewood Library meeting room at 7:00 pm. Board meetings are open to all residents.
- Dates for 2007: Sept 13, Oct 11, Nov 8, no meeting in Dec
- Upcoming Scheduled Event: September Dumpster Days

Next meeting date is: Sept 13, 2007

Future Agenda item:
 Scholarship donation need to happen in Sept. so scholarship amounts can be decided
 Formal bench presentation to Jim & Diane
 Insurance coverage needs to come back, newsletter can’t be insured

Jerry Greyson would like to be on the scholarship comm.
