MEETING TOPICS for Tuesday, April 3, 2007

?·Update on 6310 petition (Van Salon) for 4-story condo unit:
The public hearing is still set for Tuesday, May 1.(Scroll down to the very bottom/last page for details.)

If you are concerned about the petition/development, please express your concerns via email, letter, or telephone call to Kathleen Blackham or Bob Merriman. (The contact information is also listed below.)

Latest news on petition: It is believed that there have not been any revisions to the architectural & site plans. The setback along College Avenue decreased from 17 ft. to 14 ft. Until the plans are revised, this petition will most likely be denied. To confirm that this information is still current and correct, please contact Kathleen Blackham.


?·Establishing monthly meetings (where, when, who will organize them, etc.)

The discussion of the concept of the Warfleigh Neighborhood Association was initiated.
Jill Ditmire, President of the Warfleigh Neighborhood Association, expressed her idea of having a ?“loosely-organized neighborhood association.?”

Many attendants/members agreed on the same concept.

Rhonda Finney expressed her opinion that it is important to have an organized neighborhood association established so that there are responsibilities/task accountability to address/meet Warfleigh?’s unique concerns and desires.
Example responsibities:
* a meeting organizer (someone to organize when & where we?’ll meet & how often)
* someone to create the next (and future) directories
* someone to contact Warfleigh residents about concerns regarding Warfleigh ?– such as commercial creepage, levee updates, vandalism, etc.
* Bylaws to require homeowners/landlords to maintain their properties (the concern being that there are some rentals within Warfleigh & the properties aren?’t being very well maintained)


Rhonda Finney shared that Jamey York with RE/MAX sent a letter to her, offering the use of their conference room (accommodating up to 25 people).
The card stated, ?“Rhonda, if your neighborhood association ever needs a place to meet, our office is open to you. We have rooms for up to 25 people. ?–Jamey York

Pauletta Rist knows Jamey and will speak with him about this offer.

?· Sidewalk Repair
For street sign, sidewalk repairs, etc., we should contact our neighborhood liaison Rachel Buckmaster @ 327-5380 or Rbuckmas@indygov.org.

?· Snow Removal (327-7669)
Snow removal was seemingly a ?“hot topic?” during our heavy snowfall days.
In the Warfleigh Neighborhood Directory in the ?“Important Telephone Numbers?” section, under CITY OF INDIANAPOLIS ?– MARION COUNTY SERVICES, you will find the telephone number of whom to contact for snow removal.


* Warfleigh Annual Yardsale ?– Saturday, April 28
(initially proposed for May 26 and/or May 27 ?– the weekend following the Broad Ripple Art Fair)

?· Warfleigh website upkeep (would anyone like to do it?)
Deb Toplis will speak with Rich Hynes to see if he?’s interested in maintaining a website.

Warfleigh resident Jo Ellen Myers Sharp (jemsharp@sbcglobal.net) offered her website for the neighborhood association.

Rhonda -- I have a Web site that I would be willing to donate to the neighborhood association. I have already paid for the site and I'm not using it. I think it would entail establishing a domain name and getting that registered with by service provider. Let me know if you're interested.

Alan Hague (Broad Ripple Gazette) informed Rhonda Finney that www.Warfleigh.net or .com (???) is available & can be established for a monthly cost of around $2 or $3.

If we do not use Jo Ellen?’s website, we can look into what Alan suggested. Whoever arranges this can contact Alan for details.


* Warfleigh Neighborhood Association officers - who's interested?
Due to the above discussion on the neighborhood association (see the above topic of monthly meetings), we briefly discussed the history of Warfleigh neighborhood.

The residents who have lived in Warfleigh for many years did not recall there ever being a tightly organized neighborhood association. However, events, such as Block Parties, did take place.

There are some Block Leaders already existing. Pauletta Rist, a Park Avenue resident, will look for that information (Park Avenue Block Leaders).

When Kevin Strunk, former Warfleigh Neighborhood Association President moved out of Warfleigh, he passed on the title and neighborhood history/neighborhood association papers/information to Jill Ditmire.
Jill will search the papers to see if there were any Bylaws written specifically for Warfleigh.

(Also, for those interested, Jill Ditmire has a CD of pictures from 1920?’s when Warfleigh was first platted and occupied. Interested historical Warfleigh fact: The house on the NorthEast corner of Broadway and 66th St. is the first house built in Warfleigh! There is a picture on that CD of that house shortly after it was first built.)


It is very possible that Warfleigh Neighborhood falls under the Bylaws of the Broad Ripple Neighborhood (thus BRVA is our neighborhood association).

?· 2008 Warfleigh Neighborhood Directory?—who would like to do it?
Rhonda Finney will provide whomever a copy of the document that she created, containing the directory information.



Other neighborhood concerns & discussions:

Flood restrictions & insurance info.:

It is believed that the levee project will not be completed until sometime in 2008; therefore, we estimate that the flood restrictions/insurance won?’t be lifted (IF it will be) until Fall 2009.

Loud moped:
There has been a loud moped driving up and down 64th Street and throughout Warfleigh. The moped can be heard at all hours of the day/night.
If anyone knows this individual, please ask him to repair his moped so that it is not so loud.

Block Party:
A neighborhood block party is desired by many.
Possible street(s) to be blocked off for the party was brainstormed?….in the past, it was around 66th and Riverview.
Date and details: still to be discussed & determined

Directional Sign:
The sign has not yet been picked up.
Also, it needs to be erected on the side of the levee just before Broadway Street, indicating one-way, and not erected on a homeowner?’s property.
Jill Ditmire will contact Rachel Buckmaster about this issue. (Drivers are still, unfortunately, going the wrong way.)

Stop Sign:
A stop sign is needed for the 62nd/Central/Meridian area.

Traffic Speed:
There is concern of the speed of traffic throughout Warfleigh, especially around the 62nd St. and Meridian area, 63rd Street, 64th Street, and Riverview Drive.
Jill Ditmire will also bring these concerns up with Rachel Buckmaster.

Volleyball Party/Warfleigh Gathering:
Doug DeGlopper, Warfleigh resident, has offered to host a Warfleigh gathering in the near future. He has a volleyball court in his backyard. He welcomes a neighborhood gathering at his place.


Desired lists containing the following information:

o Babysitters (within Warfleigh or from nearby areas)

o Contractor/trade information ?– (similar to Angie?’s List ?– let?’s share information of highly recommended contractors, as well as names of those who NOT to contact)

o Yard workers/snow shovelers/removal of leaves

o Haulers (Haulers for trash items that the city will not pick up)

Is anyone interested in being the organizer for this information?
Does anyone have information to share?


REMINDERS & QUESTIONS:


Would anyone like to attend the below-mentioned safety meeting as a Warfleigh representative & take notes to share with those who cannot attend the meeting?

MKNA, Butler/Tarkington, & BR have a safety meeting the first Friday of each month at 10 a.m. at the College Ave. library. (H & H is usually there.)
*Their next meeting has been moved to April 13 due to Good Friday.

The next BRVA meeting is April 17 @ Broad Ripple High School

Sgt. Burge will, most likely, be there and can provide police information
(information of recent crimes that happened in Broad Ripple or nearby)
