Joy from code enforcement was not it attendance. Neither was Lt. Fleming.
Steven Simon and William Kebler from the fire department addressed our concern for what will happen to fire station #14 because the other areas will be annexed into Lauderhill. They assured Ms. Smith the station will not be moved so we will not see any change of service. Our president heard a rumor that the station will be given to Lauderhill. He said they will assist Lauderhill but the station belongs to the unincorporated area. They are in the budget into the next year.
Neighborhood Enhancement: Ms. Sumlin addressed the sinkhole on 9th PL and 30th Ave. Mr. Franklin is handling the entrance signs to the neighborhood. He is also handling the missing drain cover.
The planter in the street will be moved for Mr. Rainford so that he can have his circular driveway as long as it is done up to code and he assume all costs. Regarding the cracks in the driveway for Mr. McMillion the builder has been notified and they have 30 days to respond. The meeting to approve the board members for the enhancement district will be held on Tuesday. Ms. Sumlin noticed there are contractors working on Sundays. She advised them it is against our enhancement code to work on Sundays. A lot of contractors were unaware. She is also seeking additional volunteers. A motion was made by Mrs. Smith so the survey committee can purchase materials for their project. (11$ for stamps, plus the cost of labels. Mr. Habersham will be a new member of this committee. Our president spent $47.86 for back to school supplies for the kids in the summer program.
Mr. Jones still isn't willing to sell his land to us for a new building. We need to work on a plan to obtain a building for our kids because the trailer isn't large enough when we have thunderstorms in the summertime. Ms. Sumlin explained we do not have enough property. We need enough room for the playground plus parking. Ms. Giles explained that several park buildings have been built recently so we know it can be done.
Ivette got a call from Commissoner Rodstrom's secretary regarding grant money that was awarded to Lafayette Park Assoc. The money was being held by Ms. Watson, she didn't sign the memorandum of understanding so the money went back to the county. Mr. Rodstrom is in the process of trying to transfer the money from the Lafayette Park Assoc. to the Washington Park Civic Association. Our president will be contacted regarding the new grant money. The total amount combined is approximately $150,000.
We had several contractors from the corner on 9th street and 27th Ave who are upset because they were confronted by BSO. It was explained to them that there was a report from school aged girls that they were being propositioned by some of the men. Our president explained this is an issue between them and BSO.
