Ivette Spence Brown started the meeting at 7:30PM with silent prayer and remembered those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

She announced that Eugene Franklin and some of the Officers were away at a Conference. She and Mrs. Penn would be leading the meeting.

Lt. Fleming asked for the residents help with children skipping school. When they skip school they get in trouble. He asked if we see them to call 954 791-4321 or the office 954 321-4800. On August 23rd there was a homicide on NW 7th Court in the 2900 Block. They have suspects and the investigation is ongoing. At the Mills Center there was a car break-in and a petty theft in the building. On August 14th there was an attempted car theft in the 800 Block on NW 27th Avenue. A bike was taken at the Community Store on 27th Avenue. A car was placed on NW 7th Court to check speed. No tickets were given but they did give warnings. The speed was not determined to be excessive. He questioned if residents noticed a difference. Ivette said that she feels that the car helped because drivers would slow down when they saw it. Mrs. Jiles said there is a serious problem with speeding and questioned speed bumps. This will be addressed at the next meeting with Mr Franklin. Speed bumps would need to be addressed with the Engineering Department for Transportation. Lt. Fleming said parents should stress safety to their children. A resident said that on NW 8th Street at a blue house they had a party for the pass two weekends. The noise is very loud it shakes their house and they can?’t sleep at night. People are also parking everywhere. They usually start before Midnight. Deputy Joseph said he will check on this and also let his co-workers know on the next shift. A resident said that dogs are running loose on NW 7th and 8th Court the children are afraid to walk to school. The dogs should not be running loose. They should be on a lease or in a fenced yard. Ivette said she would bring a number for animal control to the next meeting. If the dog is in the street they can pick them up. If it is in a yard they can?’t.

Joy from Code and Zoning took information from a resident about cars parked in a vacant lot.

Ivette asked if anyone was interested in being a Street or Block Captain and passed around a signup sheet. Dues were also collected. Magnet cards with the Council?’s numbers were passed out. The Christmas Party is coming up and we need people to signup to work on it. She read a flyer about Homestead Exemption, the Property Appraisal Office will come out to Homeowner Association meetings to signup new homeowners. They will work with Associations and different groups in December, January and February. We also need to have people work on a lot of different committees for the neighborhood. Mrs. Jiles and Mrs. Penn work on the Hospitality Committee and will get the numbers of those sick to call and see what we can help them with. Integrated Waste did not come to the meeting so the meeting was adjourned at 8:20PM.
