PRESENTATIONS AND REPORTS
Mr. Gerald Henry, Code Enforcement Supervisor, Broward Community County Code Compliance Division, reviewed the changes in the division since its merger with the Office of Urban Planning and Redevelopment. Mr. Henry indicated that neighborhoods drive everything the division does and this allows them to focus its resources on the greatest area of need. He spoke about the division?’s paint program; customer services evaluations and noted there were eleven inspectors patrolling the unincorporated area on bicycles. Mr. Henry fielded questions concerning noise, scooters, abandoned property, dumping on the right-of-way, selective enforcement and stagnant water in pools. Ms. Martha Dowd requested a list of the names and telephone numbers of the district supervisors.
Mr. Falk, as the MSAB?’s Volunteer Coordinator for the upcoming Neighborhoods USA conference, stressed that volunteer participation was a reflection on our community and asked each member to try to enlist volunteers from the areas they represent. Volunteers are requested to work four-hour shifts and will receive t-shirts, meals and other benefits. He is willing to attend association meetings and make presentations about volunteering for the May 26th - 29th conference.
Mr. Don Stone updated board members on the recently completed annexation studies for the Central and South County areas. A centralized annexation study workshop was conducted in each area in which the consult reviewed the results of the study and fielded questions from the audience. Mr. Stone indicated that in addition to the centralized workshop, upon request the consultants would be available to meet with individual neighborhood organizations.
The meeting adjourned at 8:20 PM.
