On December 17, 2002, the abovementioned Homeowners Association Presidents met with me in my Senate office, per my request, to discuss annexation. As I have indicated to you, the Broward delegation, and anyone else inquiring, I represent the residents of central county and I will abide by their wishes as their Senator.

I informed those in attendance of the fact that although I had been invited to annexation meetings by the Chair of the Broward Delegation, Senator Steve Geller, I had refused to discuss this issue until I had an opportunity to meet with the community leaders.

Upon receiving notification by letter from the City of Lauderdale Lakes, with a copy of their proposed bill, which included your community, I requested a meeting with the above named association presidents so that I would be able to advocate your wishes during the upcoming legislative session.

It was decided by those in attendance that it might be in the best interest of central county?’s unincorporated areas to wait for the upcoming Rosenbaum Study (Nova Southeastern University) before making any decisions. Each homeowner president indicated that they were not necessarily in a rush to be annexed for, in spite of what was being said, property taxes have not increased and placed an undue burden on the homeowners at this time. They also agreed they would share the information with their respective homeowner communities and would advise me of your decisions. Until I receive direction from you, I will not support any other community annexations, because to do so might jeopardize your future options for a fair annexation approval.

Please remember that you, the residents, will have a choice of at least 2 options (cities) to choose from, if and when you are ready to proceed.

Please know that I am deeply appreciative of your participation in this process and I am honored to continue to fight on our behalf in the 2003 legislative session
