Washington Park Neighborhood Preservation and Enhancement Dist.

Washington Park Neighborhood Preservation & Enhancement Meeting

Jul 23, 2006

May 4, 2006

Our meeting was called to order by Yvonne at 7:05pm. She gave the roll call all members present. The minutes were read. Elton Marshall made a motion to accept the minutes as written. Idella Wright seconded the motion. We voted to accept the minutes as written.

Elton said he has called Broward Sheriff?’s Office twice about problems in the Neighborhood and got no response. A number was provided for a contact with BSO.

Yvonne said that we would handle problems in the Neighborhood directly with the County Office.

James Ross said that BSO has arrested a father and son that were stealing his materials from a jobsite. If we see any suspicious activity we need to call BSO. Try to get as much information as possible for them. We have noticed that there are people in the Neighborhood with loud cars racing. It has been called into BSO.

Ivette Spence-Brown said that new houses being built in the Neighborhood need dumpsters. There is debris flying onto resident?’s property and into the street. James said they are not required to have dumpsters except at a certain point in the job. Beds, tires all kinds debris is dumped on jobsites. Ivette also noticed that sand is dumped on the sidewalk and cement is getting in our drains. James said that the truckers will not back over the sidewalk because of liability. He will refer the issues to the County. We discussed the County fining the Contractors for debris when it?’s obvious it?’s not from their job. There is a man going around dumping on jobsites. The Contractors has to have it removed but they shouldn?’t be fined. We will invite someone from the County to our meeting to further discuss this issue. James will check with DPEP on the sand and cement being mixed near the flood drains. We discussed the noise ordinance in our Plan on page 13. We need the street signs put back up and repositioned.

Yvonne wrote a letter to Leighton Elliott Director Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division regarding Sistrunk Boulevard Improvement Presentation on April 17, 2006. She received a reply back to call 954 765-4062 to spray for mosquitoes. It was stated that the ditch was designed to hold water for 24 hours. Mosquitoes take 36 hours to hatch. He said the County doesn?’t put up walls on private property. We discussed our reply back to Elliott. We have a website to apply for a grant for landscaping and a wall for the Sixth Street area between NW 31st Avenue and NW 27th Avenue.

Elton made a motion to adjourn. James seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 08:45pm.
