The meeting opened at 7:05 by saying The Lord?’s prayer in unison.
BSO Report: Chief Jabbo advised the residents of ?“Night out at the Park?” held August 1st at Delevoe Park, There is a crime problem at gas stations where women?’s purses are being stolen when they go to pay for gas. BSO has been doing neighborhood enforcement for a month and 48 arrests have been made. They are still working on the issue of the cars gathering on Sunday evenings. BSO is also working on updating their 911 system in the event of a hurricane.
Joy from Code Enforcement: Looking into the situation of residents installing fences without permits. There is a port-a-potty on 7th street that Joy will look into.
Broward County Waste Management and Recycle Service: Ms. Barrett advised us of a community cleanup on Saturday August 12th from 8AM-12PM. She will try to handle the problem of illegal dumping on empty lots. The removal of toxic waste is handled through the central station at 595 & Davie Road. Residents are allowed to enter 3 times per month at no charge.
If residents need paint, please call (954) 765-4299 or 4202. It will be issued every Friday from 8-12.
Enhancement District: The community lost Mr. Smith and the neighborhood supported her. He was one of our devoted members. Mrs. Merritt?’s husband is still on our sick list. Yvonne read the thank you card from Mrs. Smith.
New Business: Community Development?’s procedure has changed for the $92,463 grant. They are now posting it in the newspaper and they will handle all the paperwork. It will be posted in the Westside Gazette July 13th thru July 19th and in the Sun Sentinel on July 10th. These funds are for exterior use only and the limit is $10,000 per home.
