A big thank you to the volunteers and groups that made National Night Out a huge success this year.
About 175 people fanned out across the parking lot and lawn of Roosevelt High School on Aug. 5 for free hot dogs, art activities and child ID kits. The national event aims to promote crime prevention awareness and this year?’s events were the biggest yet for Waveland Park.
Thanks goes out to Drugtown for donating its grill for the evening, Mercy Medical Center for donating two child bike helmets, and to the Police and Fire Departments for their representation and displays at the event. Several students also lent a hand with face painting and art activities for younger children.
From the feedback we received, Waveland Park residents appreciated the chance to meet their neighbors and hoped to see similar activities offered in the future. That?’s also the hope of the Waveland Park Neighborhood Association - stay tuned for plans for additional social events in the coming months.
More ?“Thank Yous?” To Members Of The WPNA For Their Contributions To The Neighborhood
To Tammy Randall, for coordinating Waveland Park?’s Spring Flower Planting Project - planning the theme and preparing information for our flyer, ordering and picking up plants from the Botanical Center, and distributing flowers to all who placed orders. It was a real bud-wilter of a summer but Waveland Park was a better-looking neighborhood than we would have been without Tammy?’s contributions.
To Brian Porter, for masterminding another stellar ?“Jazz in July?” concert for the WPNA and showing us all once again how to organize a major neighborhood event. This year, he was even able to attend the concert!!
To Estela Villanueva Whitman for her work to make our 2003 National Night Out such a success.
