The City of Des Moines?’ Neighborhood Conservation Services Division is currently accepting applications for its Minor Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation Program, also known as the Emergency Repair Loan Program. The program is designed to address major violations of housing standards that create an immediate threat to the health and safety of the occupants or will seriously damage the structure if not addressed immediately, such as a leaking roof, failed furnace, faulty electrical wiring, broken water or sewer line or foundation problems.
This program is available to qualified low-income (less than 50% of median income) homeowners who have owned and occupied their home for at least 12 months prior to receiving assistance. The assistance is offered as a deferred payment loan at 0% interest that is forgivable over five years. For additional information on the program, please contact Tom Nancarrow at 283-4512.
