Greetings Neighbor!
As we start to see signs of the change of season-- the air getting cooler, the trees taking on new color, kids back in school- I hope that we will renew our commitment to maintain and improve our neighborhood. As a resident of Wedgwood for 30 years, I am very proud of how our neighborhood has retained its overall appearance. Our streets are clean and most of our properties are well maintained. And, we are one of the safest neighborhoods in Southwest Fort Worth ; however, I have started to see more vacant houses with yards that are overgrown with weeds, loud music, increased idleness among our youth, etc. As a retired criminologist, I assure you that in the not so distance future, we will start to experience some real ?“quality of life?” problems without the organized involvement of our residents.
On a more positive note, we have three nursing homes (includes one assisted living home) and several group homes in our neighborhood. There are always opportunities within these venues to help individuals in need, especially during the holidays. This past spring, our Association helped to sponsor an appreciation luncheon for the staff and teachers of J. T. Stevens Elementary School.
A strong Neighborhood Association can effectively prevent problems that cause neighborhood decline and it can reach out to neighbors in need. We can make a difference! So get in involved and encourage your neighbors to become involved in our Neighborhood Association. Our next meeting is next Thursday, September 20th, at 7:00 p.m. (6:30 meet and greet), at The Waterford, 6799 Granbury Road.
Please come?…. and ask a neighbor to accompany you! We desperately need your ideas.
