Wentworth Place Homeowners Association

A new beginning

Dec 27, 2002

Neighbors, this is our first online newsletter and hopefully not the last. Please keep in mind that this not my specialty so there may be plenty of errors and a definite lack of journalistic style.
Good News, Our neihgborhood now has a Web site! Our new Web site includes information about (Our Neighborhood), an online newsletter, a list of local schools, and community pages about issues and events that affect and effect our neighborhood. Links to city government officials and services, including the police, make it a great communication channel.
The Website is not just an information source, but also a place for all neighbors to be connected to the internet. Want to tell people about an upcoming meeting, garage sale, or lost pet? Then post a notice in the "Community Calendar" or tell people about yourself in the "Meet Your Neighbors" section. Concerned about an issue, go to the "Talk about it section and create or respond to discussions.
This is our Web site, anyone can use it and it's easy to use. You dont need any special computer skills to post information simply fill out forms and the information is posted! All you need is internet access.

You may have noticed the Christmas decorations on the entrance. Our board members are hard at work trying to improve and instill pride in our neighborhood. Checkout the children-at-play signs also. we want to be a visible and realtive force in effecting positive changes to the Wentworth community. Any ideas for positive change are greatly appreciated.

There are many talented business owners in our community, landscapers, lawyers, A/C techs, handyman, tutors, event planners, avon/mary kay services and babysitters to name a few. We invite all business owners to advertise their services in the classified ads (free of charge). Where else can you find free advertisement. This is a win-win for everyone. Simply follow the directions or contact Mark Wilcox at beerpoint@aol.com for technical assistance.

In order for our association to click on all cylinders, we are going to need volunteers as needs come up. Currently we need Webmasters, Newsletter editors, and constuction types. If you are interested, please contact us.

As I close, let me say that the last meetings attendance was pretty dismal (only 10 out of 90 families showed up). Let me remind you that we are as strong as we allow ourselves to be. It goes with ot saying that the better neighborhoods are organized and committed. Bad neighborhoods consit of a lot of complainers but no action takers. Let's be the good neighbors. Besides, owning a house is a substantial investment. The average market value here is 124-135k. It is our duty and moral obligation to keep those prices moving up. Happy New Year everyone.
