Highlighted notes from the Board discussions
Records of property tax payments and tax files
Brian stated he would follow up with Gloria for information regarding past property tax payments and tax filings. This is a particular concern as the Association prepares for the income related to the sale of its property on Summit Avenue for the Summit Greenway residental development.
Committee Members, Committee Chairs and Street Representatives
Officers agreed to distribute a volunteer sign-up sheet for residents interested in serving on Committees and as Street Representatives. Announcements about the composition of each committee and the selected Committee Chair are slated for the Association meeting on July 14.
The group agreed to seek Street Representatives for the following five sets of streets that compose the neighborhood.
1. Grandin / Second
2. Heathcliff / Wesley Heights Way
3. Summit
4. Walnut Ave / Fourth-Ext.
5. Woodruff / Lela
Parliamentarian and Chaplain
The Board discussed possible members to serve as Parliamentarian, including: Collette Forrest, Bill Pride and Anissa Freeman. Valaida agreed to contact Collette to gauge her interest in serving as Parliamentarian for the Association.
Though the role of Chaplain is identified in the bylaws, members were uncertain about the need to fill the position and about who is best qualified to serve in that capacity. No formal decision was made about pursuing and naming a Chaplain.
Agenda and preparations for next neighborhood meeting (6.09.05)
It was agreed that the main agenda items would include: (1) overview of 5.19.05 Association meeting minutes; (2) treasurer’s report; (3) seek volunteers to serve as Committee Members, Committee Chairs and Street Representatives; (4) provide updates on the Drakeford residential development and Historic District Commission meeting; and (5) announce next meeting on July 14.
Other items
Brian announced plans to attend the Historic District Commission meeting on June 8, which will include discussion of the Drakeford residential development. Peggy and Anita expressed interest and possible plans to join the meeting. It was suggested that Tonya Brandon, a Wesley Heights resident and members of HDC, could be a presenter at the Association meeting on June 9.
Neighboring Concepts has requested a meeting with the Brian and other Board members who are available, regarding the Summit Greenway development (the specific date of the meeting was not documented).
Peggy shared that Sara Tucker on Woodruff has sent her dues and expressed concerns about problems arising from Lela Court development.
Valaida agreed to forward Board members copies of the spreadsheet of the member attendance roster and to create the volunteer sign-up sheets for Thursday’s Association meeting.
