?“Alive and Running?” 5K/10K to Benefit Suicide Prevention Center
Westchester, CA. - The fourth annual ?“Alive & Running?” 5/K10K Walk/Run will take place on Sunday, September 16th to benefit the Suicide Prevention Center. Start time is 8:00am with ongoing entertainment throughout the day, including a A ?“Kiddie K?” which will begin at 9:30am. The race will offer runners a unique route on Westchester Parkway. This year?’s events grand marshall is Dan Butler.
Founded in 1958, Suicide Prevention Center was the first agency in the US to establish a 24 hour suicide prevention hotline. It is still the model for most crisis intervention hotlines across the nation. Each year, the center provides immediate telephone counseling to more than 16,000 desperate callers who are contemplating suicide or are in a state of crisis. Suicide Prevention Center is a program of Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Center, which provides mental health and substance abuse services throughout Los Angeles County.
