Westchester Library Artwork to Include Community Members

The Westchester and Playa del Rey Community will soon have a new library! The Loyola Village Library will close in the fall for demolition to make way for the rebuilding of our wonderful new facility. The Westchester Branch Library will remain open until the construction of the new library at Westchester Park is complete.
Local Artist Jill D?’Agnenica has been chosen to create the artwork for this fabulous new library. In March, she introduced ?“Character Studies, ?” her proposal for the library?’s decorative artwork. Ms. D?’Agenica will create 24 portraits of members of the Westchester-Loyola Village Branch Library community (children, teens, and adults) in the guise of their favorite literary character and/or embedded with imagery from the appropriate text. The portraits will be created by collaging photocopied photographs, found images and text which will then be enlarged and silk screened onto 36?” x 72?” panels. These, along with other decorative motifs will be installed on the ceiling and walls of the main room of the library.
If you or your children are interested in participating in this wonderful opportunity, questionnaires are available at both the Westchester and Loyola Village Libraries.
