The WAC Recreation and Parks Committee is seeking public input on the needs of parks and recreation facilities in the Westland Area. This effort is in conjuntion with Columbus Parks and Recreation Department. The public is encouraged to participate in several ways.
On Tuesday, May 4th, between 6:00pm and 8:00pm, and Open House will be held at the Westgate Recreation Center, 455 S. Westgate Avenue, concerning the upcoming November Bond Issue for recs and parks.
The bond package will address priority issues such as neighborhood facilities, pedestrian safety, job creation, and green space. The bond package will provide funding for a variety of capital improvements such as roadways, safery facitities, street lights, park renovations, and other things that are important to neighborhoods.
This is a neighborhood meeting and provides the public the opportunity to offer input with representatives of various City Departments. This is a great opportunity to push for park and recreation facilities within the Westland Area by speaking one on one with City Representatives.
Another meeting will be held May 12th, between 6:30pm and 8:30pm at the Westland Library meeting room. This meeting will feature Maureen Lorenz, CPRD Planner. She will speak at 7:00pm to address the need for park and rec facilties in the Westland Area. She will also be onhand before and after to speak with individuals who wish to offer input into securing much needed park and rec facilities.
The public is encouraged to fill out a Park Priorities Survey at this meeting so the information can be forwarded to CPRD. If you are unable to attend the meeting, the survey is also available online in the pages section, entitled Park Priorities Survey. The public is encouraged to complete this survey and return it to the WAC Parks and Recs Committee.
