NEXT WHOA MEETING
TUESDAY JUNE 8th, 7 PM
The Rock of Southwest Church at 10393 W. Alamo Place

Please continue to show your support and interest in the community by attending our monthly WHOA meetings. The meetings are at The Rock church, 10393 W Alamo Place. The regular meeting starts at 7PM. The Board of Directors will meet at 6:30. As a WHOA member you are welcome to attend both.

An informal meeting of the new board members was held on May 6th at which the board decided to hire the law firm of Orten and Hindman to obtain advice as to whether the covenants can be enforced and how to best enforce them. The board also decided to renew the insurance policy but to pay the premium 6 months at a time.

Direction of the New Board

Some residents in the community feel that the covenants cannot be enforced since they were not aware of the covenants when they purchased their property, or because the covenants haven?’t been enforced in the past. For this reason, your new board is seeking the advice of an attorney regarding whether the covenants can be enforced and, if so, how best to enforce them. The board does not plan to change the covenants but rather to enforce the covenants that already exist, pending the advice of the attorney, on a consistent basis throughout the community. It is our goal to make the neighborhood a safe and desirable place to live and to ensure that our property values continue to go up.

Newsletter Editor

We are still looking for a Newsletter Editor. It takes about an hour per month. All you need is a PC and an interest in the community.

New Members

Thank you to our new and renewed members. Every member of our WHOA is appreciated. We can do so much more for the community if more people will join and actively participate. Please talk to your neighbors about joining and becoming involved. Due to a computer glitch, our most recent members will appear in next months newsletter.

Mosquito Control.
The Jefferson County Health Department has assumed the responsibilities for mosquito control in Jefferson County. The goal of course is to reduce the number of cases of West Nile Virus in the community.
The Health Department has contracted with Colorado Mosquito Control, Inc. to carry out this function. Doyle James, former WHOA director met with Mr. Tim Howard, Denver Metro Operations Manager at Blue Heron Lake recently to discuss our concerns about the mosquito habitat around the lake and the drainages above and below the lake.
Mr. Howard informed Doyle that his crew would be monitoring the mosquito habitat on an occasional basis between now and June, then they would monitor weekly. Based on the tests, the habitat will then be treated.
