A new wind is blowing through Whispering Pines thanks to the many residents who took time to attend our meetings, and voted in a Board of Directors. A lot is going on to make sure that the newly elected Board fulfills the wishes of the residents. We have changed the post office box to one closer to Whispering Pines, opened an account at VyStar Credit Union to organize all of our financial records, moved the files and records back on property, and notified Awakenings Association Management, Inc. of termination of our contract with them effective November 22, 2004. Until then, Awakenings Management will continue to take your calls and work requests, and forward them to the Board of Directors.
Beginning November 23, we are going to self-manage the Association until we are able to get a handle on our finances and then determine if and when we can hire a new management company. In order for us to be successful in our efforts to self-manage, we are going to need the support and time of all residents. We are asking for volunteers for the many committees and to assist with the day-to-day operation of our community. We have a new e-mail address so you may communicate with the board directly and a new phone number with voice mail. This means you will not be able to speak to someone immediately about your issues, but if you use our e-mail and voice mail, I can assure you a board member will contact you in a timely manner. Please be patient during this time of transition as the board works hard to manage your money wisely and accurately.
We are also reviewing work requests for repairs and attempting to handle them in a fair and equitable manner. Thanks for your support and please continue to play an active role in your community.
The Board of Directors will continue to meet at 7 p.m. the fourth Monday of each month (except December) at the Fleet Reserve on Collins Road.
Jerry Lankton
President, Board of Directors
As your Board of Directors, we promised to get a handle on our finances, have internal control procedures of our finances in place, inform the members of actions within the Association, get the residents involved in our community, and work together to make our community a place we are proud to call home. We are working hard to do just that. We know we have a wealth of untapped skills, ability, and knowledge in our community, and we ask that you step forward and volunteer.
We need you.
