Chatham Woods. Land is being cleared for a condominium complex (11.13 acres) on Pondue Lane. Some of that acreage is adjacent to Pineverde/Pinehaven. But, according to the site plan, the area adjacent to Whispering Pines will be a preservation area and a large retention pond, some trees may be left for a buffer, and an eight-foot fence will surround that complex.
Collins Place II. The apartment complex on Collins Road has approval to develop Phase II (10.27 acres) to include 11 buildings housing 124 apartments. The complex will be directly behind Pinevalley Lane (8701 Pinevalley to 295) with an easement between the two properties and a large lake at the edge of the West side of the that property. I'm waiting a return call from the Developer in response to my questions about large trees remaining as a buffer, type perimeter fence, and when construction will begin.
Vacant lot on Collins Road between Whispering Pines Drive and Pineverde Lane. Rumor has it that a Gate Superstore will be built on that lot. However, I spoke with the Manager of the property and he says it's just that, a rumor, and the property has yet to be sold. He also told me that the owner recently purchased the small lot on the other side of Whispering Pines Drive (East of River's End, between the lift station and Collins Road). He didn't have a copy of the survey available, but thought part of the WP entrance signs may be on that property.
