Willow Creek Neighborhood Watch

October 2008 Newsletter

Oct 24, 2008

I hope that everyone survived the WIND STORM! What a wind storm it was. I know everyone is thankful for the electricity being back on. Thank You LGE! We are all probably still recovering from it. Don?’t forget that Louisville has several drop offs for debris. I am not sure how much longer they are doing that. So please call 311 for more information.

I have received a few phone calls about the tree debris in common areas. I have been referring them to the Homeowners Association at 241-2573. Because I am not sure myself who is responsible. Thanks for your understanding.

I?’m sorry to the Homeowners Association if I caused any misunderstandings.

Don?’t forget that we are collecting items for CAP (Christian Appalachian Project) www.chrisapp.org Clothing, furniture, toys, schools supplies, food, etc?… Please drop off your items before Oct. 14th at Kim Strange?’s House at 5401 Baywood Drive. Her number is 241-8656 and her e-mail is strng2@insightbb.com if you have any questions. Thanks.

We are having a Halloween House/Yard Decorating Contest for the Scariest and the Funniest. Mr. Dale Clark, Vice President of the Louisville Ghost Hunter

Society, will be judging on Oct. 26th. 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be given special gifts from the Neighborhood Watch and receive a Congratulations in our next Newsletter.

?¼ pound of butter/margarine
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Mix all dry ingredients together in a 8X8 inch microwave safe pan (important to use this size pan). Add milk and vanilla extract. Place chunk of butter/margarine in center (leave butter whole). Do not stir up. Microwave on high for 2 minutes until bottom of dish feels warm. Stir vigorously and blend in chopped nuts (optional). Put in mold or whatever you use to chill for 1 hour. *Halloween/Christmas Mice*

1 package of chocolate kisses
2 jars of cherries with stems
1 tbsp paraffin
As needed, red colored gel icing
As needed, almond slivers

Directions
Melt chocolate chips on low in non-stick pot. Add paraffin until melted. Drain cherries. Dip cherries into melted chocolate and lay sideways on cookie sheet (so stem will look like a tail). Using chocolate kisses, with a little melted chocolate on the bottom, attach to front of the cherries (toward the bottom). It should look like a mouse?’s nose. Use almond slivers for ears and red gel for eyes. Refrigerate. Kids love them!! Tammy Chatman.

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH ORGANIZATIONS

Neighborhood Watch has come to your community. What?’s in it for you? Safer streets and homes, community spirit, camaraderie with your neighbors, stronger relationships with law enforcement and so much more. It?’s so easy to participate . Neighborhood Watch embraces and strengthens many items that you may be already doing. Such as watching out for each other and working together to solve our problems. Neighborhood Watch brings along the power of organization and the ability to focus our resources. Our Neighborhood Watch needs you! How can you be involved? You don?’t have to take on a leadership role. You can offer to make a few phone calls. You can write a story for our Newsletter. Or just show up to a community event (even if you can?’t stay long). Touch base with your neighbors. Show that you support the effort. Observe your surroundings. Support your neighbors in their time of need. Or just walk around the neighborhood (good exercise also). Knowing your neighbors makes it easier to recognize strangers.

Had a bad day!! Give a quick helping hand to someone else and feel the warmth of the gratitude you will receive. People like all of us in Willow Creek are what makes a neighborhood successful.

BE CAREFUL!!!
