Spring Safety Tips
Officer Susan Vance, Crime Prevention Specialist, is currently working with the Willow Lane Homeowners Association Board to increase the safety of our neighborhood. Please join the board on March 20th at 7:00 P.M., as they discuss some of Officer Vance?’s suggestions, especially increasing lighting. Officer Vance also had the following safety tips to help reduce the odds of crime:
?® Don?’t open the door unless you know who is on the other side. Look out the window or install a peephole.
?® Make sure all locks are working properly.
?® Do not rely on window or door screens to keep anything out except insects.
?® Leave front porch light on ALL night long.
?® Do not leave your car unlocked in front of the house, or leave valuables visible inside your vehicle.
?® Keep your garage door closed when not in use.
?® Do not leave items unsecured in the front of your home (bicycles, toys, yard tools, etc.)
?® If you go away for a few days, have papers picked up or stop delivery.
?® Keep credit cards, money, firearms, and important papers in a safe place.
?® Please remember: most crimes occur because of opportunity. Take away the opportunity, and you reduce the odds of being a victim.
