Flood Gates Opened Yet Again

One gate was opened on Buchanan Dam at noon on Sunday. For the third time this year, gates were opened at Buchanan. While this has been one of our wettest and mildest summers, it is nothing like the flood of July 1938, when 22 gates were open. September is usually our second rainiest month, so we may see the gates open again before year end.

Flood Alerts: Ways to Get the Latest Information

1. Go to the internet. Alerts are posted to www.lcra.org as a first notice to people living on the lakes and rivers.

2. Tune into a NOAA weather radio and pick up broadcasts for the Llano area.

3. Tune into AM Radio frequency 1610.
