BOARD VACANCIES
The Board of Directors would like to thank Dave Bishop and Dena Marson for their past service. Both have recently resigned from the Board and we will miss the benefits they brought to our community. Needless to say, we need volunteers to fill these two vacancies on the Board of Directors. We need a wide variety of members, new faces, voices, opinions and ideas. You may ask yourself, ?“Why would I want to commit to such a position??” The answer is quite simple. If ?“you?” don?’t, who will? If you are interested, please contact Madeline Harding at The Reedy Group.

INCREASE IN MONTHLY ASSESSMENTS --
NOT ?– Now that we have your attention, this is a reminder of the options available to you when making your payments.
Quarterly statements are no longer being mailed.
You may pay monthly using the coupon book sent out last December, or set up automatic payments through your checking account. You can still pay quarterly by following this schedule: The first quarter (January, February and March) payment is due by the 30th of March. The second quarter is due by the 30th of June, the third quarter is due by the 30th of September, and the fourth quarter is due by the 30th of December.
If you need further clarification or a coupon book, please contact The Reedy Group.
WHEN COMTEMPLATING ANY EXTERIOR CHANGE to your home or yard, please remember to submit for approval from the Architectural Review Committee (ARC). You may obtain a form from The Reedy Group. A copy of this form is also on the Wind Drift Web Page.
All circumstances may not be addressed in the CC & R?’s, so you are encouraged to contact Madeline Harding at The Reedy Group to get clarification if you are not certain a change or improvement requires approval prior to proceeding.
The ARC and the Board would like to thank Bob Jordan for the wonderful job he did and the excellent records he kept while serving as the chairperson of the ARC.
The Board would like to welcome the new ARC members, Charles Scarborough, Joseph Barz, Michael Howe and Barbara Hastings (alternate). Thank you to these individuals who have volunteered their time for our community.
The committee meets on a biweekly basis. The turnaround time on a submittal is approximately 7-10 days.
HATS OFF TO OUR HOMEOWNERS
A BIG thanks to Stan and Marlene Salter for their beautiful selection of summer plantings throughout our community, and Paul Jones and Charles Scarborough for their efforts in restoring our boat ramp to its original condition.
Paul, as our Special Projects Coordinator, has spent many volunteer hours coordinating the repair of neglected maintenance issues throughout our community.
SPEAKING OF MAINTENANCE?…
You may notice increased expenses on various lines in the attached Statement of Income and Expenses. We have accomplished a number of improvements and repairs that we would like you to know about.
Have you seen the new frames around the subdivision entrance signs? Rather than replacing the wood frames, the Board elected to install metal frames to prevent future electrical damage and deterioration problems. There was major electrical damage from water penetrating the inside of the signs through the wooden frames that was repaired before the metal frames were installed.
Decorative curbing was installed at the boat ramp to enhance the appearance and prevent the grass from covering the ramp again.
Thanks to input from a number of homeowners, trees have been replaced throughout our community.
We have made multiple improvements to the equipment used to maintain our lake and electrical problems with the fountain have been corrected.
Our sprinkler system is at least a decade old, and has become increasingly expensive to properly maintain. Vandalism also contributes to this issue.
Next years budget will include categories for extensive maintenance programs where previous budgets had not.
WE?’VE GOT A GEM!!
We are very happy with the services being provided by our property manager, Madeline Harding. Please call her if you have any concerns or issues that need to be addressed. You will find that she is extremely responsive.
TRAFFIC COMMITTEE
Thank you to Tony Marson, Dwayne Young, Judy Burns and Janet Bishop for serving on the Traffic Committee.
The Town of Gilbert recently completed traffic studies on Lakeview Drive. Mr. Birdwell, Senior Traffic Engineering Technician for the Town of Gilbert informed them that even though we meet the Town?’s requirement for speed humps, in his professional opinion, speed humps do NOT deter speeders. The cost of installing speed humps would be the responsibility of the Association. The Town of Gilbert also determined that we could not put in additional stop signs to reduce speed in the subdivision. The final conclusion was that homeowners would respond to consistent presence of traffic officers patrolling our community. This is a service the Town of Gilbert cannot afford to provide each Association in Gilbert due to budget constraints and manpower, an issue facing many Towns and Cities.
Almost 2/3 of the homeowners who responded to the Traffic Survey believe there is a speeding problem in our community. However, given the above information, the Traffic Committee has disbanded.
UNCONTAINED TRASH
One week per month, the Town of Gilbert provides pickup of uncontained trash. This includes: large branches, general yard waste, and palm fronds, small quantities of lumber, furniture, appliances, rugs and carpets. Items will be picked up the following weeks:
?· July 16, 2001
?· August 20, 2001
?· Sept 17, 2001
?· October 22, 2001
Please place your items curbside on Sunday evening prior to pickup.
The Reedy Group has received complaints about garbage being out during uncontained trash pickup week. Unfortunately, the Town of Gilbert is not able to give a specific date, only that it will be picked up sometime during that week.
PARKING
Due to numerous complaints, the management company is performing property inspections during the evening to address parking issues. Commercial vehicles under one ton can only be parked in your garage or driveway. They cannot be parked on the street. Commercial vehicles over one ton are prohibited. You cannot park a vehicle of any type on the grass, rocks or sidewalks.

A NOTE FROM A HOMEOWNER
?“I want to thank the President, the hardworking team of current Board members, and all supporting neighborhood leaders, for their time and efforts throughout our community. The landscaping, especially, is the best I have ever seen in years. My congratulations to the Association for their good work. It shows that when regular folks and Associations get together and organize, their labor is not in vain. I am sure I speak for many others in the silent majority. A big round of applause to all of you. Keep up the good work.?”
