Neighbors helping neighbors...

Nov 19, 2002

Living in a Townhome Community, we all need to give focus to and be aware of our neighbors. Being considerate of your neighbors, especially those who live on either side of you, is most important to the quality of life for both yourself and your neighbors. Below are a few common issues and suggestions for an equitable resolution.

Being next door to a noisy neighbor is not a pleasant experience. At the same time being next door to an overly sensitive neighbor is just as unpleasant. Both parties must be willing to work together to balance expectations. In the area of noise, a suggestion would be to test yourself to see if you are consistently playing music or TV too loud. (1) Talk to your neighbor. (2) Turn up your stereo or TV to a volume level you tend to desire. (3) Go to your neighbor?’s home to see how your neighbor is impacted. You may be surprised.

Parking is another area of concern. Remember, in the Preserve everyone has numbered parking spaces for their use. However often times guests tend to use another homeowners space when visiting. Here are a few suggestions for what you can do to help this situation: (1) Advise your guest to park in the open ?‘VISITOR?’ parking or your extra space. (2) Don?’t park in front of another neighbors home, or allow guests to do so on a consistent basis. (3) Do not park overnight on the street, or allow your guests to do so.

Essentially being considerate of your neighbors and following our Covenants and our Rules and Regulations, which were written for the safety and quality of life for all homeowners, will take you a long way toward a more balanced relationship with your neighbors.
