Mtg on School Boundaries
As you probably know, those elementary-school children that live within
the Mantua Community, but north of Karen Lane, go to Fairhill
Elementary. Many families, and the Mantua Citizens Association (not
related to the PTA, except, perhaps, by membership) have requested that
Fairfax County Public Schools research the possibility of changing
boundaries so that those children would attend Mantua Elementary
instead.
Separately, families in two other, nearby Fairhill-Elementary
neighborhoods -- Chesterfield Mews and Pine Ridge -- have also submitted
a request to be included in the boundary change, and therefore have
their children attend Mantua ES.
Fairfax County's Office of Facilities Planning Services has reviewed
both requests and has prepared a study of the potential impacts
associated with the boundary change.
A community meeting to review the study will be held at 7:30 p.m. on
Wednesday, January 15, 2003, at Mantua Elementary School. The facilities
planning staff will present their findings and answer questions from the
community. The community will have an opportunity to comment. This input
will be recorded and shared with the School Board.
