The Woodside Square Board of Directors is made up of 5 members ?– President, Vice-President, Treasurer and 2 at-large members. The Board meets at 6:30 pm the 3rd Monday of every month (except December, and some years in July) at COMANCO?’s offices in Crofton.
At every meeting the regular topics usually fall in the following order:
- If a visitor is attending, discuss the issue that brought the visitor to the meeting
- Review minutes of previous month?’s meeting
- Hold hearing on violations of Association Bylaws or Rules and Regulations; determine next actions to be taken, and assess fines when necessary. The persons involved are asked to attend and present their case.
- Discuss Treasurer?’s report (account balances, year to date budget comparisons, collections on owner accounts in arrears, etc.)
- Review reports from the committees: Architectural Committee brings applications for new decks, gates, storm doors, etc. for approval; the Marketability Committee report also includes newsletter information; the Playground Committee report covers new construction and maintenance for our playgrounds
- Discuss the monthly Management report (calls received and made, letters received and sent, maintenance work being done or getting bids on, bills paid, etc.)
- Old Business
- New Business
Here are highlights from several recent Board meetings:
In June, a unit owner came to the meeting to discuss problems with water in the basement when it rains. The Board reviewed what measures the Association had already taken, or were getting bids for, and what the homeowner could do about the problem. Later in the meeting, the Board voted to authorize repairs to a unit, and discussed the water retention area under new business.
In July, the meeting started with an attorney?’s presentation of new ways to collect on delinquent accounts. The Board also noted that, according to the Association documents, the balance owed on delinquent accounts should be accelerated to the end of the year when being sent to our attorney for action. The Board discussed windows, siding and other exterior repairs, the new playground equipment, and the presence of carpenter ants in the community. Many people mistake carpenter ants for termites. The Association fees pay for termite protection, but don?’t cover pests like carpenter ants ?– that is the homeowner?’s responsibility.
In August, the Board met our new management agent, Barry Gottesman, and discussed with him and Jessica the most pressing issues for our community, and what the next steps are.
Board meetings are open to all unit owners (except for the portion where accounts are discussed). If you want to speak to the Board about a certain matter, please call Barry at (410) 721-7171, ext. 124 (or if you?’re calling from Baltimore during the day, (410) 793-0034, ext. 124) to let him know that you?’ll be attending so that the agenda can be adjusted.
