GENERAL MEETING Monday, January 9, 2006 Minutes

Call to Order at 7:15 P.M.

Board Member Role Call:
?• Present: Daniels, Graeber, Greenwood, Greenfeld-Wisner, Haas, Hill, McKiernan, Risch and Tolkoff.
?• Absent: Kingsley, Norvell

Approval of Minutes: M/S/C for November 2005, no minutes for December 2005.

Input to the Board from Members (Residents, Associates, Businesses) in good standing, It was reported that the sign at PCH and Daisy is missing.

Community Planner Comments ?– Steve Gerhadt, 570-6288 gave the report.
General Plan Update: The City is hiring a new consulting team is assist.

Public Safety Update -
The new Commander for the West Division will be on the agenda and the main speaker for the April meeting.

Program: Chris Campbell, Olson Company
A development is being planned for 2367 Long Beach at Burnett. Currently, there is a check-cashing and vacant lot. 18 three story attached homes is being planned. It should be in front of the Planning Commission this May and schuleled for completion by July 2007. A questions was raised if it will go in front of CPAC?

Mark Christoffels, Department of Public Works ( Street Trees)
2 hand out were distributed regarding the Tree Maintenance Policy and Street Tree Report.
The work is under the direction of Public Works, Christine Anderson. Last year the policy was updated. A Wrigley Tree Committee has been formed. Jeannie Tolkoff is the contact person. A first meeting of the Citywide Tree Committee is scheduled for 1/19/06 and Alan Tolkoff has been appointed to the committee.

Treasurer?’s Report - Jill Hill presented the budget report.
?• The balance as of 11/7/05 $ 6,043.51
?• The restricted balance $ 2,226.29
?• The unrestricted $ 3,967.47
?• Total Income $ 492.03
?• Total Expenses $ 645.78
She also discussed the results of Apparel Sale that was held on Dec 17th. $334,50 was raised. Jill thanks the volunteers who helped.

Christmas Tree Lane Report- Joan Greenwood gave the report.
?• Maria Novell was injured on December 17th at one of Entertainment Nights.
?• Joan thanked all the volunteers who helped.

Membership Report- Nancy Risch gave the report.
It was agreed to extend the contest until February.

CPAC- Alan Tolkoff gave the report.
The issue of Storefront churches was raised. CPAC is asking Code Enforcement to check on other Storefront Churches.

Old Business
A. 1925 Pacific ?– Gavin reported that letters are being collected to give to the Planning Commission opposing the development on this site.
New Business
A. Signal Hill Petroleum/Impact of Oil Exploration Activities on Wrigley Properties
Two representatives from the companies involved with the activities gave a short presentation and answered questions. Many complaint were raised by the members.
Chris Garner, Director of Long Beach Gas and Oil stated he would talk with the City Manager to halt the project.

Council Comments
7th District: Tonia Reyes Uranga
Expressed concern regarding the Signal Hill Oil Exploration.
6th District: Laura Richardson
MLK parade being planned for this month. She encourage all the attend. The theme is centered around Rosa Parks. The City is working on illegal dumping of items after Christmas.
