I would like to invite anyone who is interested, in becoming a Community Code Enforcement (CCE) Block Captain. CCE is a program sponsored by the Neighborhood Services Bureau, Redevelopment and Code Enforcement. The So. Wrigley CCE has been in place for the past 2 years. Initially we had 10 CCE block Captains , but do to busy schedules & some have taken on other community responsibilities the program is in need of additional captains.
In a nut shell, CCE captains survey their assigned blocks to report deficiencies on properties (such as trash & debris, chipping paint, deteriorates fences, roofs and yards). All new captains will be briefed and trained on the roles & responsibilities of a CCE captain. The CCE captains meet once a month with the Code Enforcement inspector to submit their Anonymous referrals. Karl Wiegelman would like to explain the CCE programs to your groups, and to recruit for new block captains. Please let me know if you are interested.
Remember, this program is not supposed to be overt. Block captains are supposed to be discrete about their participation in CCE, and in their neighborhood reconnaissance, and should not monitor the blocks they live
on.
Without local community support, CCE doesn't work. Please feel free to call or email me for more information.
I look forward to working with you in the future.
