My husband and I have living in Lake Eola Heights for 18 years.  Obviously, we love the community and the walk-ability to Thorton Park, Lake Eola, and downtown. We attend the quarterly association meetings, Dennis is on the Neighborhood Watch committee, and I deliver the newsletters on our street.  Wish we could do more, but for Dennis operating a co-working space in downtown orlando (Catalyst Work Spaces on Orange Avenue/Central), and involved in many other endeavors, time is limited.  I was working many hours and then became ill and therefore am restricted in activities I'm allowed.

On 8 November there is a Lymphoma and Leukemia Society event at Lake Eola called "Light The Night" where there will be entertainment and a gathering and walk around the lake for patients, survivors, and family and friends of those still here and those who passed.  It is open to everyone and if interested, go to the LLS.org website and sign up or get more information.

As a 2nd time survivor of Acute Myeloid Leukemia and 9 months post a mismatched donor bone marrow transplant, I will be attending the event.  I have also started a fundraiser to support the effort.  There are several ways to help, by either giving money for research and support, donating life saving blood, or registering as a stem cell donor (it's free and as easy as a cheek swab done at home an mailed).
