Westown Watch is a block watch that organized 11 years ago to keep the neighborhood as free as possible of crime and blight. Westown is all volunteer and made up of residents who are concerned about their neighborhood and want to make a difference. Westown Watch is not a group that goes out and weeds your yard but will help you find the resources to get it done (elderly or physically challenged) Westown Watch is not going to stand guard at your home but will make you aware of crime prevention techniques.
Westown Watch proudly partnerships with Sahuaro School. Westown Watch is open to anyone who lives in Westown and we welcome you.
We celebrate G.A.I.N (Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods)which usually falls in October. Usually Westown draws an average of 2000 residents to its GAIN Event
Just last year Westown Watch Neighboprhood Association was one of 16 winning neighborhood associations honored in Phoenix out of over 850 associations for various achievments. Those Achievments included Youth and Senior Center, Neighborhood Clean-up, grant for local school reading program just to name a few. We also work with the parent/teacher association of Sahuaro Elementary for their benefit. We were recently recognized along with Sahuaro Elementary as a model as to what Washington District is hoping can be created between other schools and neighborhoods.
We have quarterly meetings to try to inform neighbors of what's happening in our area. We often have door prizes and guest speakers. We thrive on volunteers from our neighborhood. A little time goes a long, long way. Please call (602) 234-6161 and get involved. You can make a difference!
