I was appointed to the board on August 27, 2007
I was appointed by the governing body on October 10, 2007 to become Chair of the Ad Hoc Committee on Public Safety. I am committed to improving public safety for the all stakeholders in the boundaries of our neighborhood council in South Central Los Angeles. My belief is the same as Councilman Parks for the Eighth Council District, that ''public safety involves preventing, reducing or containing the social and environmental factors that negatively impact people's right to live without fear of crime.''
Currently, I am an active member of the Ad Hoc Committee on Community Beatification. This committee is hard at work right now. Our goal is to have banners installed around the borders of our neighborhood council by spring 2008 something all stakeholders in the community can enjoy, love, treasure, and value.
Also, I am an active member of State of California Assemblyman Mike Davis 48th assembly district Steering Committee, and an active member of State of California Senator Mark Ridley-Thomas 26th senate district Empowerment Congress.
My vision is to make ECCANDC better when my term is up IN 2010, than when I was appointed to the board by bringing all stakeholders together to reach some common goals: increase economics development, improve the quality of life, and to make the place we call home a safter place to live and work. Also, look closely at issues that are important to all stakeholders in our area and craft policy with solutions that will lift up the community. Making it once again the home of the brave, and the safe.
My mission: ENGAGE; EDUCATE; EMPOWER! The purpose of this Concil is to
1.) Promote community participation in ECCAND and make ECCAND more responsive to the local needs of the community it serves by bringing city services and the stakeholder of the community together.
2.) Help the community Neighborhood Prosecutor and community LAPD Serior Lead Officers capture and prosecute graffiti vandals, and people that are dumping trash illegally in the streets and alleys within an around our neighborhood council's borders.
3.) Improve police response time, eliminate adbandon vehicles from the streets, fill pot holes, increase sidewalk repairs, increase tree trimming, improve street lighting, report animal services violation, report building and safety violations around our negihborhood council's boundaries.
4.) Create four neighborhood watch programs within our council's boundaries, create a business directory, and have a community job fair near Chesterfield Square.
5.) Create Bike Secuirty teams, Crime Watch & Reporting Teams, Trash Cleaning Teams, around our boarders.
My belif is the quality of life will improve for the better of the whole community this way. My mission can be only accompliseh with the help of other board members, and the help of stakeholders from the community. I know working together is the best way all stakeholders can improve the quality of life in an around our neighborhood.
