Our House

We live in a Queen Anne cottage that was built around 1898, our house once had the tallest tree in Beechmont in the front yard. We don't know the early history of our house, but we do have a scrapbook from 1950, and we have a door in the second floor bedroom that has names signed on it from people who visited here overnight in the 1920's and 30's. Maybe some of them escaped from the '37 flood and stayed for a few days. The couple who lived here in 1950 loved this house, it was their first house and they were very proud of it. We hope we can take care of it as well as they did. Our house is not too big and not too fancy, but everyone who visits always says it feels like home.

Beechmont

We moved here from Pewee Valley, we wanted an older house and wanted a place where we could walk and exercise and a fenced yard. We looked at houses and neighborhoods for two years before we found this one. We love the neighborhood and the people who live here. We have the best part of the city and enough yard to garden in without it being a burden. Our friends from the East end are jealous.

People

People in this neighborhood are very friendly and the neighbors watch out and take care of each other. In this day and age, that is getting to be a rare thing. We are blessed with great neighbors and its a pleasure to live next to them.
It's been great to be involved in the neighborhood association and a lot of fun to work on the events. We always can use help and once you get involved you'll be glad you did. You can do as much or as little as you want. Try it !
