UNIVERSITY PARK ,TX Est.1947

THE HISTORY;
After the turn of the last century St.Mary's University,Est. in the 1850's, was already a bustling little community in itself.Land out here in ''The Counrty''was already being purchased.Especially between here and the JOSEPHINE TOBIN(Woodlawn Lake)area.That region was already thriving and had been for years with its then fresh water supply,natural resources,and abundant beauty.With all the integral waterways and creeks(which are concrete ditches today!) in our area it was prime for settlement.The BASILICA of THE LITTLE FLOWER had already been in existance for decades.Famous Outlaw and Mexican National Hero PONCHO VILLA had even visited there!
After WW2 plans were put underway for a new subdivision,one of many,many to be built in the coming years.So in the shadow of ST.MARY's UNIVERSITY,stretching from VARSITY VILLAGE on Bandera Rd. out towards INGRAM HILLS in the west,the Nieghborhood Community of UNIVERSITY PARK was born in 1947.The City Limits for SAN ANTONIO itself stood only at the intersection of Culebra and Callahan in the 1950's!

Representing THE UPPER WESTSIDE!From Culebra to Bandera,from Gen.Mcmullen to Hillcrest and everyhing in between.Across the years and down through the Generations.Since the 60's my Family has lived in this very same Neighborhood.We have gone to school here,grown up around here,and are Proudly still here to this day.In the 21st Century!Even though the ''Old'Hood'' is not what it once was,its still Home!
