Hi, my name is Shanon. I moved into the neighborhood in 1996.

Thoughts on Our Neighborhood:

I strongly believe that our neighborhood has one of the best locations in the city and it is one of the few still affordable neighborhoods.  If there was a strong, positive neighborhood group we could market the area as up and coming and be another well established historic area people would want to live in.  It's generally safe, convienent to about everything, eclectic, nice sized lots and yards, and people enjoy walking their dogs and living their dreams.   Building an association takes time and patience, and it takes an understanding of people, a willingness to listen and lots of time to commit to moving projects forward.  There are many smart and intelligent people living in San Gabriel and Palomar, but associations like ours can be tough to operate as some people see the groups as Nazi like.  I have never found that to be true as most all I have ever worked with are terrific - board members are there to benefit the community. Sadly, many people got cajooled into believing someone wanted the best for them, and the association failed.  But assns can always be restarted.
