The mid 1800's Dunning Mental Hospital, now Chicago-Read Mental Health Center, gave it's name to this solid, quiet middle class community. Merrimack Park, as well as multiple cemeteries create a green, calm atmosphere for families and students from near by Wright Junior College. The Park offers tennis, basketball and baseball fields. The neighborhood has plenty of casual dinning and shopping.
