On Thunder Day, all 3 of my toilets backed up and the plumber had to come over and open the cleanout valve. Today, the same thing happened. I am wondering if this may have something to do with the heavy rain. We had a lot of rain around Thunder and there was certainly a lot of standing water in the neighborhood yesterday. Is anyone else having a similar problem? I hate to keep having to call the plumber. I live on the short block of Kinloch. Thanks.

If you have any trees in your back yard , roots maybe getting into the line from the house to the main sewer.  Call MSD and have them run their camera down the line to see if there is any obstructions in their piping. If there is, they will repair there pipes. The rains have nothing to do with your backups, since storm water should be entering the sewer system. MSD has sealed all the accesses for surface water to enter the sewers some months ago.  Roots are probably your trouble and they can re-grow quickly. At the time these houses were built, 4 to 5 foot section of clay tile pipes were to connect homes to the main sewer lines. Where these pipe connected together can come apart or the pipes just fail. In any case, they are yours to clear of roots, fix or replace if found to have failed. Good Luck.
