Why are they putting apartments in Middletown Village? I thought that the new building going on near the Daycare was going to be new townhomes or maybe another strip mall, but I found out last night from a neighbor that Rammuno is building apartments there - which were originally designated to be condiminums - but when he found out it would cost him 1200 per year per unit to the town, he decided to put up apartments anyway. I'm already concerned, as are many of my neighbors about the turn the neighborhood has been taking lately - I don't think that apartments are going to add to the atmosphere or to the property values. My husband and I are getting out ASAP!

I'm not sure?
I can't say that it is for sure. I didn't call the developer. But thus far about five neighbors have told me that they will be apartments. I did read the older post on the forum from last year regarding the petition to stop the apartments and to make them condos. But, I was told by a decent source that when the developer found out it was going to cost him 1200.00 per unit per year paid to the town of Middletown to put in condos, he decided against the condos and went with the apartments. Frankly, I don't like the idea of either condos or apartments, I just don't get the feeling that its really what this neighborhood is about.. Not condusive to the atmosphere the Civic Association and the residents are trying to achieve. But, either way - I'd be very interested to know if it was true or not - Please post anything that you are able to find out. We enjoy living in Middletown Village and although its a starter house for us, we weren't quite ready to leave yet :)

Reply from Town Manager
This is what I got from the Town Manager:
Eric,
I have not heard that. Last time I spoke to him, he was deciding how much the condos would sell for. My assumption is he would need to come back before Mayor and Council to amend the Record Plan back to apartments.

Is this true? Mr. Ramunno is going to change back to apartments from the mutually agreed upon and approved condo's?
Please advise by replying to all...
Thanks,
Eric
