March is here and so is Creek Week! This year, it will be packed with many opportunities for environmental stewardship. This month,  Creek Week starts March 22nd and ends with our grand finale, Big Spring Clean, on March 29^th. This month we would like to highlight one of our newest volunteers José. José attended his first volunteer event with us at February’s VolunThursday and put in some amazing work! On his own, he collected 15 heavy bags of trash from Stewart creek! Thank you for really showing up for our streams, José!

Calling all students and residents in Mecklenburg County! Join us as we launch our first ever Storm Drain Marking Match-Up! The match-up will take place April 1st-30th, 2025, as groups from across the County help us get closer to meeting the goal of marking every storm drain in Mecklenburg County. For each drain marked, a group will receive a point. The top three groups with the most points per division (Under 18 or Above 18) will win some awesome prizes for each of their group members.

There are so many ways you can volunteer with us, even from your own home! Adopt-A-Drain is a program where you can take ownership of a drain near you. If you live or work near a drain in the Towns of Matthews, Mint Hill, Pineville, Davidson, Cornelius, and Huntersville you can get involved.  By participating in this program, you will check your adopted drain once a month and make sure it is clear of any debris or trash. You can monitor the storm drain for any pollutants, damage, or odors and report these issues to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services (CMSWS) or by calling 311.
