Amber Ridge Homeowners Association, Inc.

John

Posted in: Copper Grove

I may be butting into a conversation, but the fact of it is this has gone on long enough.  We all here know how both of you feel about one another and where each of you stands.

I respect BOTH of you as a neighbor and a FORMER neighbor.  Both of you have contributed to this association bringing to the table in what you believe to be right, just and the good thing to do for the neighborhood and the residents here.  Unfortunately all is lost if there is no common ground, or going by majority, only a contempt for the other.

JR, I wish you and your wife the best.  While you were here you tried to make changes that you thought would be in the best interest of keeping the neighborhood in great shape, but in my opinion, you lacked the skills that were necessary to be able to do the job properly...meaning you blind-sighted everyone with new rules to be voted on before discussing them with the residents about what they thought and what they would like to see changed.  In my opinion you and the board wasted a lot of the associations money on lawyer fees in the process to boot.  I am guessing that is why some here, if John is correct in what he says, have problems with your style of governing.

As far as I am concerned, name on the title or not, you are no longer a resident in your home, and are no longer on the board.  Leave the situation with peace and dignity by not posting here.  It is only making matters worse and speaking for myself only; loosing respect for you in the process (it really makes me wonder if you are not actually doing this because you like to get a rise out of John).

Again, I hope and will pray that you guys will be able to find peace, good fortune and happiness in your time of difficulty and if by chance we meet again, I would welcome your presence with a whole heart, but it is time to let go.

Thanks,

Julie

Julie,

Lack of experience none here. I'm a busines owner and have been doing well for myself so not a lack here. It was not just me wanting the changes. You need to get more involved and go to more meetings and see what all is going on. People think it is easy to do but no one wants to stand up and do it. The past presidents would not run again because of a few certain people. The new rules was not made up by me. The prior board and atty. came up with the proposal.,the new board brought it to the table to get opinions and votes but not all gave effort. As for John I kept my mouth shut along time on his comments. For the rules in the covenants he had stated before he would abide by the ones he wanted to and not the others... Like having boat in driveway or his camper in the drive both a violation of the rules. As for me not living in my house if I rented it out I would still have a voice in the community.

JR, bless your heart, you are always on the defensive.

My husband and I have both run multiple businesses fruitfully, but that does not mean that you have the qualifications to successfully run a HOA.  Homeowners are not your employees and the social dynamics are different.

As far as being at the meetings, I would love to go, but there are no postings as to when, where, etc. (meaning that there is a lack of communication to the residents from the board because nothing is posted on this site).  And no, it is not easy being the enforcer of any rules or regulations. That goes back to the point in the first paragraph.

I understand what you are saying about the new rules, but the vote or lack thereof spoke for itself.

Yes, you would be able to still participate in the HOA and the discussion board, etc. if you were renting your home, but that is not the scenario that has been depicted.

I have come to the conclusions that you are not happy unless drama is involved, and that you always have to have the last word.

Julie, You sound like a very nice and intelligent person. You are correct in your assessment of the situation concerning Mr. Palmer. I to felt he tried to do what was best for the community as long as it was the best for him. He broke covenants all the time and that was OK. That is until he quit breaking those particular ones. Then anyone who did the same thing was ridiculed by him.

I did park my boat and my camper in my driveway. Big deal. And he is right. When I need to do it again. I will. It did not happen that often and it was for short periods. that is all I have to say about it. I pay the mortgage and I will enjoy my home as I would hope you will yours. I will maintain it in a nice way. But it will be decorated in the way my wife and I like not the way JR does. I mean come on, he is supposed to be a landscaper now and the best he can do is that white gravel. BTW, I thought he was a builder.

I had better be quiet, he thinks I am a school yard bully anyway. If that is`nt the pot calling the kettle black.
