Hello Everyone,
First I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I am David Miller and I live at 64 Three Rivers Drive. I have not been involved in the re-formation of the Amberfield Association up to this point, but after having attended the 30JUL2009 meeting last night at Troop 2, I quickly realized that I was not the only homeowner who felt that the dormant association not only handled it's reemergence extremely poorly and threateningly, but also that this association is in need of direction and influence from all of its represented members.
Although I am not particularly thrilled at the sudden reformation of the association and the manner in which the board has chosen to do so, I do see a very real need for an association to better our community and neighborhood. I feel that community service and civic duty are urgently needed in order for this to happen, but by virtue these services and duties are voluntary and can not be made defacto mandatory to the homeowners by issuing letters which have been perceived by many as threatening and demanding. Based upon my observance of the meeting last night I feel that many of my neighbors have the same feelings and it is unfortunate that a poor start has occured to what I think can be a positive force in our neighborhood if we can motivate positive participation.
I feel that the key missing item in this situation is simply proper communication. If the represented homeowners cannot depend upon their board of directors to provide for communication to its own neighbors, not much else positive can or will ever occur. I do realize that motivating others into positive action and participation can be difficult, but that does not excuse the lack of having made every attempt to do so.
With all of that having been stated, no positive end can come from this association unless we as the represented owners are willing to place this poor beginning behind us and participate. I honestly feel that this board has severely hamstrung itself because of the way it has been perceived, and unless we get past this negative start and work together to conquer the issues facing our neighborhood we will all suffer in the end.
The board has shown interest and willingness to serve in the positions which they evidently have been elected into by someone other than myself. I may have voted for them if given the chance, but I feel that the lack of good communication regarding times and dates of meetings and scheduling for votes has, up to this point, been a farce! We will alleviate that issue!
