The Target Store at Oracle & Roger Rd along with all the other stores, north to Peter Piper pizza will be torn down after the Christmas holiday season in order to build a Super Target Center.
The new Target will be approximately 188,000 square ft. and will include a grocery store. Michaels (the only other store remaining) will be relocated to the north of the new Super Target store. Eventually there will be some small stores built on the corner.
The City Transportation Dept. said this will increase traffic along Roger Rd by approximately 1500 trips per day.
They will look into the possibility of changing the flow of traffic at Roger & Stone to ease this problem. There will be an additional right turn lane into the center, off of Orcle along with a bus pull out so as not to stop the flow of traffic.
Representatives from Target Corp. said that none of the current employees will be layed off, but will be given the opportunity to temporarily work at another location until the new store opens in October 2008.
