We recently got new street lights and I for one am not happy with them. They rae too dim and has really darkened our street. We have many people walking theu our street to first ave. and I feel it is not very safe for these pedestrians as well as home owners.

I spoke to City of Tucson  dept. of the street lights and they say they are part of a stimulous package and we can only use the money for these kind of lights. I liked the yellow lights we had before as they shone much brighter. Have any of you received these lights and how do you feel about them? I really would appreciate some feedback.

Thank you,

Arica

The lights are low energy LED's.  Welcome to the "Green" revolution.  If you do not like them complain to your Marxist City Council Women and don't vote for people like Obama in 2012.  These lights use less energy, even though energy is ridiculously cheap and plentiful in the US esp if the socialist stop standing in the way of coal and nuclear power plants.

I agree they do not have enough light.  The white light also ruins your night vision so you cannot see into the shadows as well creating a safety issue.

Learn your lesson from this: Do not expect bureaucrats in DC to fix the problems in your community.

I have recently noticed that the lights don't come on till late about 10 PM. which leaves our entire neighborhood in darkness! I will certainly call Karen ulrich to morrow and complain, althought I know it probably won't do any good. I 'm pretty good at pestering.

Good luck with that.  She will probably claim there is no money in the budget. What she won't say is that the money is all being used on trolleys, building apt complexes and hotels, and giving free rent to artists.

Also don't let her extort another tax increase from you in Nov.  There IS money available to refund the police, IF the city council stops robbing the citizenry. Our police will have ~1000 officers by the end of the year and less next year.  To meet the AVERAGE officer/population ratio (2.4 officers per 1000 residents) we would need about 1600 officers.  To actually secure the city and to account for the fact that Tuscon is a major drug hub in the US we need about 2000 officers.  TPD can only bring in 10-20 new officers each year because it takes a couple of current officers to train each new recruits. You do the math.

If our esteemed council woman had any principles she would tell us what her budget priorities are (i.e. fund police, then fire, then street repair, then things that are not lawful gov functions, etc), but she does not and will not.  What she will tell you is that her priority is to maintain the government payroll, regardless of the validity of those positions, and take more of your money.

So while you are enjoying your new street lights start to think about how you will secure your neighborhood.  Uhlich has gotten us into the situation where we will have a several year period where the police will not be able to enforce the law and arrest criminals; they certainly will not be able to protect you or your property, which, by the way, is not their duty but yours.

Here is a movie I found on youtube.  Looks like the future in Ward III, esp with Karen Uhlich, Councilwoman of Urban Decay, on the job.:

You can also ask her what her staff is doing. Here are some facts:

80,000 people in ward III

Karen Uhlich + 6 staff members = one person per 13,000 people

Our state senators have enough staff where the ratio is one staff member per 100,000 people.  I get a call or email response from my senators but not from my council women who has relatively 10 times the amount of staff.
