5th Grade Week/Yearbook Committee meeting update

5th Grade Week/Yearbook Committee meeting update as of 1/14/04 from Lauri Bourikas.

The following was discussed:

1. The calendar needs to be changed - due to snow days. We will wait until the first of April to make any changes to the calendar.

2. There is a 5th Grade bin in the main office. Kathy Petrelli will put anything that comes to the office relating to 5th Grade Week in that bin, i.e. photos, surveys, etc.

3. A short discussion ensued regarding the Softball Game/Cookout. We
discussed what things will be needed for this activity. The Ice Cream Party is all set. The Breakfast was discussed, but things don't need to be
organized until it gets closer to the date. T-Shirts were discussed
briefly. Currently all of the committees are working on their activities.

4. A long discussion ensued about the different aspects of the yearbook.
At our next meeting we will be discussing a "Theme". A decision is going to be made that night as to whether we will poll the students or if the PTO will just decide on a theme. Memos, notes and requests will be coming home frequently -- please check with your children.

5. The next meeting for the Yearbook Committee is scheduled for Tuesday,
February 10, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the media center. It is important that
everyone on this committee try to attend. At that time each committee
should be able to give me an update as to where they stand. We have set a
timeline -- the yearbook needs to be to the printer no later than Monday,
May 31, 2004. That date will be here before we know it!!

6. Just a reminder -- if you are unable to attend any meetings or if you
cannot help with any of the committees and you would like to be a part of
5th Grade week, we welcome any type of contribution, i.e., film (35mm), cash
donation, Gift Cards (Staples, Officemax), Blank CD's.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

5th Grade Week Kickoff Meeting Update 11/19/03

The kick-off meeting for 5th Grade Week was held on Tuesday, November 18, 2003. We had a great turnout (21 families were represented). There are currently 69 fifth grade students. At the meeting, 5th Grade Week was explained and committees were formed. The budget was discussed. We have a very limited budget for 5th Grade Week -- $20.00/child. Many people have already expressed their wishes to donate certain items. The people on the Ice Cream Party Committee have offered to supply everything needed for that particular activity. There will be other opportunities as we get closer to 5th Grade Week for people to donate items, i.e., food, paper goods, etc. We will not have to pay for the printing of the yearbook, as this will be donated.

The next 5th Grade Week meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 21, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the Media Center.
