More that 250 Morrison families (just under 600 people) attended our Annual Halloween Costume Ball at the Sons of Italy Hall in Quincy on Friday night. 12 Morrison families and 5 local businesses donated twenty-three items to the PTO raffle. Two 50/50 raffles were held as well.
A special thanks to those of you who donated items!
On behalf of the PTO, we would like to thank everyone who participated in the raffles on Friday night! More than $1,000.00 was raised. Congratulations to all the winners!
The costumes were outstanding! We’d like to applaud all of the parents who dressed up! You’re all great sports!
The splitting of the grades worked out well. Many families took advantage of the movie room. It was great to see all of the pre-school aged siblings too!
We appreciated all of the goodies and spring water. The extra food went to Father Bill’s Place and the water will be used at the school!
We are grateful for all of the people who pitched it to make this night a success! We appreciated all the help soliciting donations, setting up and decorating the hall, working the raffle tables, helping with the goodies and water tables and cleaning up just to name a few!
Thank you all for attending! We hope the parents had a chance to interact and many new friendships have begun. The PTO hopes to offer additional social activities this year to promote a sense of community!

The expected attendance is 575 (248 students, 305 adults and 22 pre-school age siblings)
Grades K - 2 from 6:00 PM - 7:15 PM (Approx. 290 attendees)
Grades 3 - 5 from 7:45 PM - 9:00 PM (Approx. 280 attendees)
*** Based on the number of positive responses received, as of 10/20, approximately 33 families will be impacted by the split. In order to assist these parents, the PTO has reserved an additional small conference room at the Sons of Italy. The PTO will show a movie during each of the sessions in this additional room. If the split affects you, your older children may watch a movie while they wait for the second session to begin. Once the first session ends your younger children may remain to watch a movie during the second session. ***
Parents please don’t forget to wear your costumes!!!
Please note: the PTO hopes to secure the use of the BHS Gymnasium for the Halloween Ball next year to avoid splitting the grades.

The Halloween Ball is tentatively scheduled for Friday, October 24th.
The ball will not take place at Morrison, as in past years, due to the size of our student body and fire regulations. The Knights of Columbus Council #1462 at 875 Washington St. has generously donated the use of their hall.
A DJ will be provided
The PTO will sponsor a raffle
Admission is FREE
Our student body is made up of more than 450 students and 360 families.
A parent or guardian must accompany each child. We do not want to exclude anyone or limit attendance.
The ball may need to be split by grades K - 2 from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM and grades 3 - 5 from 7:45 PM - 9:15 PM to accommodate everyone. This creates a quandary for families with children in both the younger and older grades.
A notice will be sent home on Monday 10/6 asking each family to RSVP so we can determine the total projected attendance. The deadline to return the form back to school is Wed. 10/8.
Based on your response decisions will be made on an exact timeframe and whether or not the grades will need to be split.
Obstacles are what you see when you take your eye off the goal.
