Can't stop the papers!

Posted in: Superstition Foothills
Does anyone else have this problem?
I do NOT want to receive the Apache Junction/Gold Canyon Independent Newspaper. I don't read it, and when we're out of town the papers pile up announcing to would-be thieves ''Yes, nobody's home, Come on in!'' I call the newspaper almost every other week asking them to stop delivery, and every week I get a paper. I've left messages and talked to actual people at the paper. How can I make them stop?

By eyeball deep in papers
Sorry, no answer either!

I wish I knew the answer to this! I also wish there were more people in this community like yourself. Newspapers in the driveway and leaving your garage door open, even if you are only going over to the pool for a brief swim, ALL give an open invitation to crime.
If you find a solution to the newspaper issue, please repost the answer!!
Newspaper issue!

We have our neighbors pick up ours (and we do the same) if we're gone for an extended period. Doesn't solve the short-term problem and you really shouldn't have to do it. To be honest, we do read them but there should be a way to shut them off if you don't want them.
Wonder if Pinal Co.'s anti-litering ordinance could apply?! If you or I toss a newspaper out the window in front of an officier we'd probably get cited! or notify them you are going to bill them for disposal of their trash!
Any case, because it's free there's not much incentive for them to change.
There is a way...

I can not believe after 7 years of complaining about this and thinking I was the only one that there really are others who feel the same. I have called both the papers, independent and aj, and told them to cease their litter delivery. It has taken an absolute tenacious fight, but I finally got them stopped. I did notice, however, they delivered both again this week which tells me it is time to go file my paperwork. Litter laws are all we have and they are hard to enforce. I am going to try, though, since common sense arguments do not seem to work with these people.

As an investor in this community I frequently have empty properties. I neither have the time or the desire to visit all my properties every week to pick up their trash.

Do we think a petition to both papers are in order?
