City Council authorized a $300,000 Parks Grant for police overtime to deal with out-of-control cruising and activities in Police Dist. 1, 4 & 6 parks throughout this summer. Our Dist 4 SCAT officers are working 4-hour blocks on their days off or after shift. Per neighborhood concerns, they began enforcement efforts in Barnum, Ruby Hill, and Huston Lake parks.
Day one: 3 felony arrests, 33 traffic citations, 14 parking citations and 8 cars were towed in relation to recovery of a crime/no papers.
Day two: 2 arrests for bootlegging, 20 arrests, 5 traffic, 5 impounds, a number of parking and noise violations and 5 peddlers were cited for huckstering.
NONE of the people arrested were from our neighborhood nor were they using the park as it is intended. More enforcement to come.
Also, there is heartening news related to efforts to get a handle on massage parlors and other problem properties in the neighborhood. The information is too sensitive to share at this point, but please know efforts are in underway to find solutions.
