Mark your calendars for the 14th annual Athmar Park neighborhood picnic on Sunday, August 29 and jump into some great summer fun. We will be meeting at the southeast corner of Huston Lake Park from Noon to 4:00pm and everybody is invited!
The event is always great family fun. A favorite attraction is always the fire truck from Station #23, so kids of all ages may want to bring swimming suits as our neighborhood firefighters will be spraying cool water on anyone who wants to run in some watery fun, provided they don't get an emergency call! The park has tennis courts and horseshoe pits, baseball diamonds, and soccer fields; so bring your athletic equipment. You can also take a walk around the park and track your distance by using the mileage markers stenciled on the paths last spring by neighborhood volunteers. You may also want the comfort of your own lawn chair. Be sure to bring checker and chess pieces to enjoy the game tables that were installed by APNA in 2001.
As a special treat for neighborhood children, we are excited to be hosting an Astro Jump this year. Kids will have a great time bouncing on the Astro Jump.
As usual, the picnic is potluck. Please bring your favorite picnic dish to share with twelve or more. APNA will provide tableware and drinks. If you don?¹t have a favorite dish, may we suggest that if your last name begins with the letter:
A-H: bring a main dish,
I-N: bring a dessert,
O-T: bring a salad,
U-Z: bring bread or appetizers.
We gather from Noon to 4pm at the picnic tables in the southeast corner of Huston Lake Park. We hope you and your family can join us for some summer fun!
