My wife and I were attending a convention in Miami as September 11 approached. I recall that fateful Tuesday morning at breakfast time when the announcement came for those from New York City and Washington DC to return to their rooms and call home. There has been an event in those cities and all from those stricken cities should call home.
All from those cities quickly exited and returned to their rooms. A TV was later moved into the dining area and what we saw was beyond belief. September 11 2001 is truly the day the world stopped turning.
Later that evening we walked along the beach to the sound of jet fighters patrolling the Florida coastline. We felt secure for the moment.
