Thanks for all of you who took the 10 minutes to vote on the school bond package. This is exciting news for our community, which faces more overcrowding than any other corner of Austin.

NOTE:
This year, AISD reported the largest ever, Kindergarten classes in our neighborhood! With this bond package (#1 and #5), we are assured that a new Middle School will be built on the corner of Slaughter Lane and FM 1826, within the next 6 years. Just in time for that local baby boom!

This new school will be a model of environmentally sound architecture, designs, materials, and land use. It will be another park for us to share, it will be very secure, high tech, and hopefully, we'll get a very strong environmental message out, in the form of educated children.

I hope to see several dedicated over-views in this school, which will permenantly display the local geology, water resources, and do it next to a huge window that over-looks our beautiful neighborhoods, landscapes, and huge Oak trees. What better way to bring home the values we share, than a new school ?

THANKS YA'LL !!

What Circle C got in the Bonds

I understand that there were a few people in Circle C, who were concerned that our CCHOA board openly supported the passage of the full $519 million in AISD Bonds this year.

Was that smart or what ?

Your property taxes WILL go up, but not that much. You are already paying for some older school bonds at a higher interest rate today, and what's left of that old debt was refinanced in the new bond package, at a LOWER interest rate. The new rate will raise your property taxes about $10 a month - less than that last Special Assessment for the Swimming Pool and out of that, you got about $80 in new schools and upgrades for Circle C Ranch alone:

1) Kiker gets 8 new, permenant classrooms. (No, the temporary buildins will never go away, but 8 more classrooms will go a long way....)

2) We get a new Elementry school and it will be at the west end of LaCrosse Avenue - right where the road currently dead ends today. Lovely site, go check it out. Sidewalks are in place already !

3) We get a new Middle School, built at the corner of Slaughter Lane and FM 1826. The school alone is going to cost around $32 Million. (It will also give us a huge playground, additional soccer fields, and a place to hold community meetings).

And, most importantly !!! We got the undivided attention of AISD board of Trustees AND the City Council of Austin. Circle C Ranch alone accounted for 10% of the votes for this bond election. That means, we have a very, very powerful voting block in our neighborhood, and we can make a difference.

Circle C Ranch is reaching out to our Oak Hill neighbors, from Cheery Creek in the East, to Shady Hollow in the south, to Granda Hills in the west, and Travis Country in the north, to make SW Austin a force that has come of age!

Thank you all for getting out there and voting. This is the single most important thing you can do, as resident and member of CCHOA.
